    Biography
    Dr. Ira Schachar is a board-certified ophthalmologist, specializing in vitreoretinal diseases of the eye. He has been in practice for over 8 years during which he has treated a wide range of complex medical and surgical diseases of the retina. Dr. Schachar is originally from Texas but has lived in cities across the US. He completed medical school at Washington University in St. Louis, his internship at Brigham and Women’s Hospital in Boston, his residency at the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor, and his fellowship at Stanford University in Palo Alto. After completing his training, Dr. Schachar was an Assistant Professor at Stanford for 7 years where he worked on drug development while caring for a complex underserved population. Him, his wife, and their new baby have recently moved to Santa Rosa where he joined North Bay Vitreoretinal Consultants. He is a connoisseur of underappreciated hobbies such as juggling, insect collecting, and amateur card magic. Read More
