Dr. Rao is a board certified dermatologist who provides comprehensive medical, surgical, and cosmetic care for patients of all ages.
Dr. Rao hails from an international background but grew up in Lubbock, Texas and graduated as an International Baccalaureate diplomate from Lubbock High School. She majored in Biology and minored in Religion at Trinity University in San Antonio, Texas. Dr. Rao received her Doctorate degree in Medicine from Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center in Lubbock. She completed her dermatology residency at MD Anderson Cancer Center and the University of Texas Houston, where she served as chief resident. Dr. Rao is passionate about advancing medicine, and has over 45 research and clinical publications to date, in prestigious journals such as Journal of the American Medical
Association (JAMA) and Journal of the American Academy of Dermatology (JAAD). She applies the principle of evidence-based practice to deliver compassionate and personalized care to her patients. Dr. Rao has traveled to various countries in Asia and the Americas to provide care to those in need, and regularly participates in health fairs, skin cancer screenings, and charity clinics.
In her home state of Texas, Dr. Rao earned the title of Best Doctor in both Dallas and Collin County for several years, as well as a Local Profile Best Doctor in Dallas prior to relocating to California. In addition, she has appeared on local radio stations to offer her expertise in skin health related matters.
She relocated to Irvine to practice medicine with her husband, a Los Angeles native, and a pulmonologist/critical care physician. She is delighted to call Southern California home and honored to serve her new community.
In her free time, Dr. Rao enjoys traveling, reading, and spending time with family, including her lively Maltese, Tobey.
