    Biography
    Lucia was born and raised in Bogota, Colombia, and migrated to San Francisco after high school. She completed her studies at UC Berkeley in Political Science and International Development. While at Berkeley, she found a passion for sustainability, public health, and social justice. After graduating, she pursued her interest in global health and women's rights by working with survivors of hurricane Mitch in Nicaragua. Upon her return to the Bay Area, Lucia focused on gender violence and immigrant rights. Before deciding to pursue medicine, she worked several years supporting survivors of domestic violence, asylum seekers and refugees. Lucia had the privilege of earning a full scholarship to the Latin American School of Medicine in Cuba, where she trained for 6 years. She returned to the Bay Area and pursued a residency in Family Medicine at the Sutter Santa Rosa Family Medicine Residency program/ UCSF, where she continued to focus on women's health, obstetrics, reproductive justice, and immigrant health. She is blessed to share her life with her partner, Ernesto, their 4 year old daughter, Nawal, and their brand new German Shepherd puppy.
