A native of Boston, Dr. Charles Elboim is a graduate of the University of Vermont, College of Medicine. He completed his internship and residency in General Surgery at Beth Israel Hospital, Harvard Medical School. He has a second Junior Residency in Pediatric Surgery at Children’s Hospital, Boston. He was awarded a fellowship in Cellular Immunology at Harvard’s Dana Farber Cancer Institute, and served as Registrar in Surgery at Treliske Hospital in Cornwall, England.
After his Chief of Residency in Surgery, Dr. Elboim joined the full-time academic medical staff at Harvard. He has had a long term interest in diseases of the breast, focusing on minimizing the effects of cancer surgery. He was the first in the North Bay to provide multiple minimally invasive breast procedures, including stereotactic breast biopsies, sentinel lymph node dissection and oncoplastic breast surgery. He spent 5 weeks in Paris with Dr. Krishna Clough, a world authority in the combined use of plastic surgical techniques with breast cancer conservation surgery.
Dr. Elboim is a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons. He is board-certified by the American Board of Surgery and is an active member in many organizations, including the American Society of Breast Surgeons, American Society of Clinical Oncologists and American College of Surgeons. He is a surveyor for the National Accreditation Program for Breast Centers and Medical Director of St. Joseph Health’s Breast Center in Santa Rosa.
