Dr. Wishanth Gooneratne is a board-certified Internal Medicine physician who is deeply committed to patient-centered care, emphasizing the importance of forming meaningful connections with patients as the foundation for providing holistic medical care. He graduated from Warwick Medical School in the United Kingdom in 2013. After completing three years of postgraduate training in the UK, he moved to the United States, where he undertook his internship and residency at St. Mary Medical Center in Long Beach, California. During his residency, he served as Chief Resident from 2021 to 2022, which helped develop leadership and administrative skills.
Since completing his residency in 2022, Dr. Gooneratne has been a faculty member at St. Mary Medical Center, where he provided care to patients from a varied background while helping prepare physicians for independent practice. In addition to his professional responsibilities, Dr. Gooneratne enjoys spending time with his wife and three children as well as spending as much time outdoors as possible.
