    Biography
    Dr. Gillman is a pioneer in outpatient joint replacement surgery and custom patient-specific joint replacements. He performed the first known outpatient total knee replacement in Orange County in 2011. As per a Stryker Analytics objective evaluation done of every joint replacement surgery done in the hospital over a three year period. Dr. Gillman ranked first out of 16 surgeons in the following categories: Lowest readmission rate within 90 days to the hospital 4% vs group average of 8% Lowest average length of hospital stay 1.4 days vs group average of 2.8 days Lowest rate of discharge to skilled nursing care 15% vs group average of 27% (Dr. Gillman's patients went home 85% of the time) despite Dr. Gillman's patients having half the length of hospital stay as the average surgeon's patients.

    In addition, Dr. Gillman has four issued patents for custom joint replacement. He is the inventor of the Bullseye Hip Replacement instruments. These custom 3D printed instruments have been validated by the leading academic joint replacement expert in the world Professor Alister Hart. Professor Hart was founder and co-directs the world's largest failed implant retrieval center where he collects failed implants from 500 surgeons in 25 countries. Professor Hart has shown Dr. Gillman's Bullseye instruments to improve the accuracy in placing the acetabular component by 90% relative to traditional standard techniques.
