Dr. Gabriel Aaron Gomez is a pulmonologist currently practicing in Mission Viejo, California for Mission Heritage Medical Group. He completed medical school at The Chicago Medical School before finishing his internship and residency at Kaiser Permanente Los Angeles Medical Center. He then completed his pulmonology and critical care fellowship at Cedars-Sinai.
Advanced Lung Cancer Detection and Diagnosis: Dr. Gomez performs robotic bronchoscopy using the ION robotic system, an advanced technology that helps find and diagnose lung cancer earlier and more accurately. This minimally invasive procedure allows Dr. Gomez to safely reach small lung nodules, even those located deep within the lungs, without the need for more invasive procedures. As part of Mission Hospital's Lung Nodule Program, Dr. Gomez uses robotic bronchoscopy to help diagnose lung conditions with a lower risk of complications compared to traditional needle biopsies. In many cases, the procedure can also be combined with ultrasound-guided lymph node evaluation during the same visit, helping patients avoid multiple procedures. Benefits of robotic bronchoscopy include early detection of lung cancer, a minimally invasive approach, greater accuracy when reaching hard-to-access lung nodules, lower risk of complications, faster diagnosis and treatment planning, and the ability to perform multiple diagnostic evaluations in a single procedure.
Dr. Gomez is committed to bringing the latest advances in lung care to his patients, helping them receive timely answers and the best possible treatment options.
