    Biography
    Margaret Virginia Butchy (Ginny) is a fellowship-trained Minimally Invasive General Surgeon specializing in the Robotic and Laparoscopic Abdominal Surgery and Foregut Surgery. After completing her undergraduate degree in biochemistry at Villanova University, Dr. Butchy attended medical school in Philadelphia at Drexel University College of Medicine. She was inducted into the Alpha Omega Alpha medical school honor society and also received distinction for excellence in her surgical clerkship. She completed her General Surgery Residency at Cooper University Hospital, where she received extensive exposure to emergency general surgery and surgical critical care at their level 1 trauma center. Dr. Butchy went on to complete a minimally invasive surgical fellowship at University of California, San Francisco while working as an emergency general surgeon at the hospital. During her fellowship at UCSF, she was mentored by leaders in the field of minimally invasive surgery while learning advanced laparoscopic and robotic techniques. Dr. Butchy has published numerous peer-reviewed journal articles, written book chapters and has presented research at the American College of Surgeons. Her clinical interests include robotic and laparoscopic surgery, foregut surgery, endoscopy and abdominal wall reconstruction.
