Dr. Bittner is a highly experienced surgeon specializing in reconstructive and microvascular surgery of the hand, wrist and elbow. Dr. Bittner's expertise includes general orthopedic treatment of sports injuries, fractures, arthritis, and nerve disorders. He is one of Southern California's most respected hand specialists, offering patients advanced techniques in arthroscopic wrist and reconstructive hand surgery, for complex wrist instabilities.
Dr Bittner, as a Naval Reserve Captain, served 12 months in Afghanistan, were he oversaw building and operations of numerous battlefield hospitals, performing countless surgeries in difficult circumstances. He continues his service as Deputy Chief of Staff Reserve, Navy Medicine West. He is the recipient of the Legion of Merit Medal for extraordinary service and achievement.
In addition to his busy practice at St Jude, Dr Bittner also teaches as Clinical Professor of Orthopedic Surgery at UCI.
