I chose Family Practice because it offers the chance to develop strong, personal relationships with patients. Family practice also allows me to treat the whole person, mind and body, instead of just one organ system. Paying attention to both the physical and emotional health of my patients is an essential first step in helping them lead a long and fulfilled life.
I enjoy caring for teenagers, the elderly, and all those in between. Those I saw early in my practice are now bringing their own teenagers to me. But I have a special place in my heart for those over 70. Not only do I enjoy their conversation and humor, but I love hearing about and learning from their life experiences.
Preventive care, including nutrition and exercise, is an important part of good health, no matter what the patient's age. We know so much more today about the effect that vitamin deficiencies, inactivity and stress can play in preventing people from achieving the energy and lifestyle they want. It is very gratifying to not only treat illness, but to help patients actually improve their lives.
