Our Collaborative Practice

Choosing St. Joseph Health OB/GYN as your provider means that you have the benefit of having a variety of choices of providers who work together to ensure a comprehensive approach to your women’s health care needs. Our providers share a common goal of offering a compassionate evidence based approach to women’s health.

Physicians

Our physicians have attended 4 years of medical school and 4 years of an OB/GYN residency. They are specialists in the medical and surgical treatment of women. They provide oversight for the nurse midwives and nurse practitioner and are always available for consultation for more advanced conditions.

Nurse Midwives

Our nurse midwives are registered nurses with graduate education in midwifery. They have passed the national certification exam. The midwives provide care for women during their lifespan, from puberty through menopause. Midwifery care is grounded in a deep understanding of the normal, natural events in a woman’s lifespan. With respect to pregnancy and birth, our focus is on supporting birth as a natural process, allowing the time and space for “Birth to Happen.” Interventions are available if needed and preferred by the patient, however, most low risk births are completed with few interventions. Consultation and referral to our physician colleagues is always an option for high risk conditions.
